Logan police are seeking public assistance after a recent surge in break-ins targeting businesses in Browns Plains. Over the past month, authorities have recorded 23 reported incidents in the vicinity of Grand Plaza shopping center, Westpoint, Village Square, Commerce Drive, and Enterprise Drive.
Perpetrators have been captured on surveillance cameras using tools to gain unauthorized access to various businesses and even vehicles parked in the commercial area. The majority of offenses have been concentrated around Grand Plaza shopping center, spanning shops and establishments along Grand Plaza, Commerce Drive, Eastern Road, and Enterprise Way.
Stolen items range from clothing, cigarettes, and mobile phones to computers, tools, cash, bicycles, and various electrical appliances. These criminal activities typically occur during the late-night and early morning hours, with offenders exploiting vulnerabilities in storefronts, such as glass doors and windows.
Acting Sergeant Scott Behnke expressed dismay at the recurring attacks on small businesses, particularly during the challenging period brought about by COVID-19 restrictions. Efforts are underway to collaborate closely with local businesses to enhance security measures and apprehend the perpetrators behind these break-ins.
Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating these incidents and similar crimes in the area. They urge business owners to remain vigilant, secure their premises effectively, and share any relevant information or CCTV footage with the police and fellow business operators.
For businesses requiring security assessments, they can reach out to the Logan District Crime Prevention Unit for support. Additionally, authorities encourage anyone who witnessed suspicious behavior or possesses information about the crimes to come forward promptly.
The recent spate of break-ins underscores the importance of robust security measures for small businesses, especially in times of economic uncertainty. By fostering a collaborative approach between law enforcement and the business community, efforts to combat such criminal activities can be significantly bolstered.
As investigations continue, the community’s active involvement in reporting any suspicious activities will play a crucial role in apprehending the offenders and safeguarding local businesses from further harm. The collective vigilance and cooperation of residents and business owners are vital in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all.
