A significant industrial development is underway in Logan City, Queensland, as the local council has approved the construction of a massive logistics hub. Mapletree Investments, a Singapore-based company specializing in real estate development and management, is spearheading this project. The $500 million Mapletree Logistics Park – Crestmead is set to occupy 36 hectares within the Crestmead Logistics Estate, a $1.5 billion initiative launched by the council.
Upon completion, the logistics park will feature nine warehouses spanning approximately 200,000 square meters, offering high-grade logistic warehousing and office space. The site’s design includes buildings of various sizes, ranging from 5,000 square meters to a potential 100,000 square meters, equivalent to nearly 20 football fields. This ambitious project is expected to generate around 2,500 employment opportunities across four construction phases.
City of Logan Mayor Darren Power expressed enthusiasm for the development, emphasizing its economic impact on the region. He hailed the project as a game-changer, not only for Logan City but for the broader South East Queensland area. Mapletree Group’s CEO, Hiew Yoon Khong, highlighted the company’s confidence in Australia’s logistics real estate sector, citing Crestmead’s strategic location and excellent connectivity to key transportation hubs as key factors in their decision to invest.
The approval process for the Mapletree development was facilitated through Council’s innovative RiskSmart procedure, which involves a thorough pre-application review before formal submission. The Crestmead Logistics Estate, situated at the intersection of Green and Clarke Roads, boasts easy access to major transport routes like the Logan and Gateway Motorways, enhancing its appeal to businesses seeking prime logistical locations.
Logan City has been witnessing a surge in commercial activities, with several notable developments either completed or in progress. Companies like DHL, Mitre 10, Alphabet (Wing), and CEVA have established or are expanding their presence in the area, contributing to the city’s growing industrial landscape. The ongoing growth in logistics and manufacturing infrastructure signifies the region’s emergence as a key player in Queensland’s industrial sector.
With the Crestmead Logistics Estate slated for completion over the next five years, Logan City is poised to become a hub for warehousing, business, logistics, and manufacturing activities. The estate’s strategic location and planned facilities are expected to attract more businesses, further solidifying Logan City’s position as a thriving industrial center in Queensland.
The influx of major investments and developments in Logan City reflects the region’s potential for economic growth and job creation. As the Mapletree Logistics Park – Crestmead takes shape, it symbolizes a transformative phase for Logan City’s industrial landscape, promising a brighter future for the local economy and workforce.
